About Keep Bristol Moving
Many so-called ‘Liveable Neighbourhoods’ are being set up across the UK, introducing driving restrictions under the guise of making residential areas more attractive by encouraging “active travel” (catching buses, walking, “wheeling” and cycling).
East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood is the first pilot in Bristol, due to be implemented from September. Bristol City Council’s stated aim is to introduce two such schemes a year.
Whilst we don’t oppose the concept of creating areas that are more people-centred, we feel the plans have been set up undemocratically and that the valid concerns of residents have not been properly listened to and addressed during the consultation process.
We believe imposing these restrictions without addressing the issues raised will lead to reduced capability for residents, leading to a reduction in opportunities and accentuating the inequalities already evident in the East Bristol area.
Access to jobs, schools and cultural centres, business revenue and support provided to vulnerable groups and other people in need may be negatively affected.
Please, join us on our mission to give people a voice and fight for the right to use the best mode of transport for the individual’s circumstances, including driving. Together, we can make a difference.
We believe in giving a voice to the people of Bristol, empowering them to shape the future of their neighborhoods.
Our Vision
At Keep Bristol Moving, our mission is to ensure that the community's concerns and needs are heard and addressed when it comes to neighborhood mobility and accessibility.
